Are Your Pots and Pans Contributing to Your Hormone Imbalance?

Teflon and other non-stick pans are often coated with chemicals called perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which can be harmful to your body.

What you cook your food in matters just as much as the food you’re eating when it comes to your hormone health!

Teflon and other non-stick pans are often coated with chemicals called perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which can be harmful to your body 😲

Why does this matter? ⤵️

PFAS are known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down in the environment or your body. These chemicals can disrupt your endocrine (hormone) system, leading to hormone imbalances and related health issues like thyroid disorders, reproductive problems, and even certain cancers.

When non-stick pans are heated, they can release toxic fumes, *especially* if they are scratched or damaged. These fumes can be harmful when inhaled, adding another layer of risk to using these pans.

So, what can you do?

Switch to safer cookware: Opt for stainless steel, cast iron, or even ceramic pans. They are durable, safe, and can be non-stick when used properly (check out my IG post on how to stop ruining your eggs using a stainless steel pan for more info!).

Supporting your hormone health is all about making informed choices. By switching to safer cookware, you can reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals and support your overall well-being.

Of course, helping your body’s detoxification pathways using nutrition and lifestyle is also essential, and is what I help my nutrition clients with. You can get started with a FREE hormone-balancing meal plan here.
